Year:1980 The city of Bombay invited Friedman to design a scheme for affordable housing in a new city-district.
He proposed a three-level skeleton with mud-brick vaults with slabs on top to protect it against the elements.
Future inhabitants would be taught how to create their own dwelling using locally available materials. Also the project was open to later improvements if economically possible.
Friedman states that the project demonstrates that
‘mobile architecture’ is not depending on space-frame structures. Themes: - Mobile Architecture projects
- prefabricated constructions
