A tetrahedron can be drawn on a cube. When this pattern is used one can make a repeatable frame with space for cubicle elements. This is the trihedral system, the principle of the space frame structure used for the Ville Spatiale and for the ‘span-over’ conceptions of e.g. Span-over Blocks and Bridge Towns. This flexible building method was proposed by Friedman in the congress of CIAM in Dubrovnic (Yugoslavia) in 1956.

”Geometrical principle of the infrastructure: The two families of straight lines on the hyperboloid of rotation correspond to the diagonal bars.
Shaping a bar at the location of the node (type a) is based on the same principle: as all the bars are continuous across all levels of the infrastructure. Nodes are dextrorotatory or levorotatory alternately.”
